An unexpected Black History Month experience curated by Joy Jan Jones and Victoria Davis. 3 aspects of black culture expressed 3 ways.

“Black Renaissance: trauma, drama, and love” is a one hour show curated by Joy Jan Jones and Victoria Davis. Wanting to come away from an expected black history month experience, they focus on 3 aspects of black culture, expressed 3 contrasting ways.

Trauma: they focus on one creative artist, Rachael Harris, and life with her parents, a renowned playwright and a famous journalist, and how that shaped her into Harlem’s premier audio/visual/production powerhouse she is today. her relationship to Alice Coltrane is also explored, and how jazz influenced her trajectory.

Drama: poetry and music written and expressed by Joy Jan Jones.

And finally, Love: a performance and discussion by Victoria Davis.

It is unlike any creation you’ve ever seen, we sincerely hope you’ll join us.
